Sun rays bursting out from behind a cloud. The rays become visible when they emerge through gaps in cloud cover and scatter from dust particles or fine rain drops. The divergent appearance is an effect of perspective - the rays are in fact parallel. Rays such as this are often incorrectly termed crepuscular rays.
