The Temple of Segesta stands on a 304m (997-ft.) hill,on the edge of a deep ravine carved by the Pispisa River in Sicily. Constructed in 430 B.C.,the well-preserved temple is supported by 36 Doric columns that in turn support its entablatures and pediments. Because the interior architectural elements are lacking, professors of antiquity believe that the temple was never finished due to a war with Segesta's archenemy,Selinunte | |
