The Cave Salamander,Eurycea lucifuga,has a large range across the Midwest and Eastern United States. This individual was photographed in the Oklahoma Ozarks and has an aberrant color pattern. Its color pattern is faded and lighter than normal. Normal specimens have a bright orange or red color base. The species frequents limestone rock areas and can be found above and below ground.
