Color enhanced composite of a normal nuclear medicine bone scan. Nuclear bone scans involve the injection of a radioisotope into a vein and photographing the skeleton several hours later using specialized nuclear medicine cameras. The isotope is deposited in areas of normal bone metabolism. Areas of abnormal bone metabolism or destruction absorb abnormal levels of the isotope. (Enhancement of BC0391) | |
