Eastern bumelia borer,Plinthocoelium suaveolens. Larvae of this magnificent long-horn beetle (family Cerambicidae) feed in the root crowns of Bumelia. It ranges throughout a large portion of the southeastern US from Peninsular FL west through TX. There are at least 3 named subspecies of this beetle,the one pictured being P. s. suaveolens.
