Foxglove penstemon,Penstemon cobaea,is also known as wild foxglove and foxglove beardtongue. This species has the largest flowers of any of our native Penstemon and has been much used in hybridizing garden varieties. The name beardtongue is derived from the conspicuous hairy staminoid characteristic of most members of the genus. Photo taken Ellis Co.,TX | |
