This species of Mormon tea (Ephedra antisyphilitica) is also called clap-weed due to its traditional use by local people to treat Syphilis. It is found in western regions of TX and OK with disjunct populations in northern Mexico. Related Asian Ephedra species have long been used in Oriental medicine. Photo taken in Coke Co.,TX | |
