White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) bulls. Also known as square-lipped rhinos, these large herbivores live on the grasslands of southern Sudan and South Africa. The adults feed on grass, using their broad lips to graze. Rhinoceros horns are illegally poached and sold for use as ornaments and traditional medicines. Due to extensive hunting for their horns, white rhinoceroses are now highly endangered.
