Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus),or brindled gnu, drinking after losing a horn in a fight. This animal inhabits the plains and woodlands of south-eastern Africa, grazing on fresh grass. It is a social animal, living in large herds, especially when migrating great distances to reach fresh pasture. Both sexes grow short curved horns.
