Springbuck calf (Antidorcas marsupialis). A single young springbuck is born after a 6 month gestation period,its parents having mated in May. This gazelle-like antelope inhabits the open dry plains of southern Africa,feeding on grass,leaves and shoots. It is the national emblem of South Africa,where it is known as the springbok.
