Hippopotamuses (or hippos) are large water-loving herbivores which live in and around rivers throughout southern and eastern Africa. Adults may fight due to overcrowding,young hippos usually only play fight. Deaths in serious fights are not uncommon. Their main weapons are the two enormous canine teeth on the lower jaw. These teeth may be over 60 centimetres in length. Hippos spend the majority of the day resting in water,grazing on water plants.
