Antarctic fur seal (Arctocephalus gazella) mother suckling her pup. The mother suckles her pup for around four months. She feeds her pup for 1-2 days,then heads to sea to feed herself for 3-5 days before returning. The Antarctic fur seal feeds mainly on krill,but also eats squid and fish. It is primarily a nocturnal hunter. An adult male can reach a length of up to two metres and a weight of over 200 kilograms. Photographed at the Bird Island Research Station,South Georgia Islands.
