Ross seal (Ommatophoca rossii) on pack ice. This rare seal inhabits the Antarctic,mainly the region around the Ross sea. It is generally solitary,and the population is dispersed and relatively unstudied. It feeds primarily on squid,although it does also take fish and krill (shrimp).
