Tiger walking. Tigers (Panthera tigris) are native to the forests of southern and eastern Asia. In common with most cats, they are generally solitary, although small groups of a male, female and cubs are known. Their territories may cover hundreds of square kilometres, and are marked with urine and scent. Only the males actively defend these areas, but other tigers simply passing through are disregarded. Tigers hunt large mammals such as deer, wild boar, antelope and buffalo. They are the largest of the cat family, reaching almost three metres in length | |
