Leopard watching. Tourists on safari in a jeep photographing a leopard (Panthera pardus). This shy, solitary carnivore is almost completely nocturnal, spending its days resting in the branches of trees or in a secluded spot. At night it hunts small prey such as antelope and hares. Despite its size and body weight, the leopard moves with agility in trees and will often drag its victim up into the branches before feeding. P. pardus is found in wooded savannah and forests throughout sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia. Photographed in the Mala Mala Game Reserve,South Africa | |
