A fully grown mountain lion has a body length of 1-1.6 metres and a body weight of up to 100 kg. It is a solitary and territorial animal. The mountain lion preys on most species of mammals including elks but seems to prefer deer. By nature mountain lions are active by day and night,however it has become strictly nocturnal in areas inhabited by man. It ranges from North America to South America.
