Vervet monkeys or savannah monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops),feeding on leftover food from household waste in rubbish bins. The vervet monkey lives on the savannah and scrubland of Africa,by forest edges and running water. It lives in groups of about 20 individuals, but much larger groups have been seen. It lives alongside humans throughout much of its range, and often raids cultivated land and also (as here) urban areas. Photographed in the Mkuzi Game Reserve,South Africa | |
