Chacma baboon (Papio ursinus) grooming a young male baboon. The chacma baboon lives in large troops which can contain over 100 individuals. It inhabits the savanna and scrubland of southern Africa. A troop is led by dominant males,and a strict and complex hierarchy exists. The chacma baboon mainly eats plant matter,but small monkeys,young gazelles and eggs are taken on occasion.
