Diademed sifaka (Propithecus diadema diadema) clinging to a tree. The diademed sifaka is endemic to the rainforests of eastern and north-eastern Madagascar. It is one of the largest of the lemurs,and the largest sifaka,with a body measuring up to 55 centimetres in length and a tail that can reach 51 centimetres in length. It lives in small matriarchal mixed groups of between 2 and 5 individuals and is highly territorial. It lives mainly in the trees where its long powerful legs and grasping hands and feet allow it to leap from one vertical trunk to another. It feeds on leaves,seeds,fruits and flowers.
