Lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudata) perching on a shrub. Lilac-breasted rollers are birds found throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula,preferring open woodland and savannah. They are often found perched conspicuously alone or in pairs in the tops of trees from where they can spot prey such as invertebrates and lizards,although they are known to take small birds,frogs and mammals.
