Grey-headed kingfisher (Halcyon leucocephala) perching on the end of a branch. The grey-headed kingfisher is common to scrub and woodland and is often found near rivers or streams,however,unlike most other kingfishers,it is not aquatic. Grey-headed kingfishers have a wide distribution from the Cape Verde Islands off the north-west coast of Africa,to Mauritania,Senegal and Gambia; east to Ethiopia,Somalia and southern Arabia; and south to South Africa.
