Double-banded sandgrouse male (Pterocles bicinctus). This largely sedentary,ground-foraging bird is found in southern Africa. It inhabits dry bushland areas,giving a loud chuck-chuck cry when flushed from cover. It feeds on seeds,mainly in the early morning and late afternoon and during moonlit nights.
