Black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) in flight. The adult black-headed gull has a brown head in the summer and a white head in the winter. It breeds in Europe,Asia and eastern Canada. It is a small gull,with a wingspan of 94-105 centimetres and a length of up to 44 centimetres. This gull is an omnivorous and migratory bird,migrating further south in winter,although populations in the northeastern USA and western Europe are non- migratory. This population are non-migratory birds. Some birds are resident to western Europe and some will migrate to northeastern United States. Photographed in summer,in Lazio,Italy | |
