Royal tern (Sterna maxima) flying with a fish in its bill. This tern is found in coastal regions of southern North America and Central America,and western Africa,although the populations are different subspecies. This bird,photographed in Florida,USA,is classified as S. m. maxima,the African population is S. m. albididorsalis. It is a large tern,with a wingspan reaching 110 centimetres.
