Herring gull (Larus argentatus). This large gull is found throughout the northern hemisphere. It mainly lives near the coast, never venturing far out to sea,but has also adapted well to life inland, particularly in cities. Around coasts it eats fish and marine invertebrates, but inland it is an opportunistic feeder, taking small mammals, plants and scavenging from refuse sites. It has a distinctive wailing call | |
