White-faced scops owl (Otus leucotis) perching on the branch of a tree during the day. This bird inhabits the savanna and thorn scrub of sub- Saharan Africa. It is a nocturnal hunter,feeding on large insects,small rodents and small birds. O. leucotis reaches about 30 centimetres in length.
