Tawny eagle (Aquila rapax rapax) perched on the lower branches of a tree. This bird has a wingspan of 165-185 centimetres and inhabits the mountains and wooded savannah of Africa. It feeds on small mammals,birds,insects and carrion,sometimes stealing them from other predators. It hunts on the ground as well as on the wing,an unusual trait in eagles.
