Great egret (Ardea alba) hunting for fish at dusk. Formally known as Casmerodius albus,this wading bird is found throughout temperate parts of the world. It grows up to 101 centimetres long and can weigh up to 950 grams. The great egret hunts in shallow water feeding on fish,frogs and insects. It will often wait motionless or stalk its prey.
