Black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax). This is a young heron. This bird is found in wetlands in North America and southwards to some parts of Central America. The young become independent about 7 weeks after hatching. Like all herons,it wades in shallow water,catching its prey of fish and other water animals using its long beak.
