Blue-footed booby (Sula nebouxii) exhibiting sky pointing behaviour. Sky pointing is part of the blue-footed booby's courtship ritual and is performed by both sexes. This seabird inhabits coastal regions of western South America. It feeds exclusively on fish, which it catches by plunge diving, dropping from height onto the fish and catching them in its bill. It uses its striking blue feet in sexual displays. Photographed on the Galapagos Islands | |
