Black-browed albatross (Thalassarche melanophrys) and chick. The albatross lays a single egg,which is incubated for about 2 months. The chick will stay on the nest for a further 2 months. This bird spends most of its life at sea,only coming to land,on the islands of the southern oceans,to breed. It is an endangered species.
