Southern giant petrel (Macronectes giganteus). This bird nests annually in small colonies amongst open vegetation,each breeding pair raising a single chick. The southern giant petrel feeds on cephalopods and krill,often following fishing boats and scavenging on land for dead or dying prey. It breeds in Antarctica and on sub-Antarctic islands.
