King penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) standing on a beach. The king penguin grows to 95 centimetres in height and can weigh up to 13 kilograms. It is a social bird,often hunting in small groups so that younger birds can learn hunting techniques and the whereabouts of feeding grounds. The king penguin inhabits many sub- Antarctic islands.
