Savannah monitor lizard (Varanus exanthematicus) basking on a termite mound. This medium-sized monitor lizard,also known as Bosc's monitor,is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds on small mammals,birds,eggs and other reptiles. Females lay up to fifty eggs,often inside termite mounds. The eggs are incubated for between five and six months.
