Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) waiting at a cleaning station. This aquatic reptile is found in all warm tropical waters. At a cleaning station small fish (seen around turtle) such as gobies and cleaner wrasse remove parasites from large fish and reptiles which "queue" at the station for the service. Such cleaning is symbiotic: the cleaners receive an abundant food supply and a safe territory and the "customers" are rid of harmful parasites. Photographed off Sipadan Island,Malaysia | |
