Juvenile yellow boxfish (Ostracion cubicus) amongst soft coral. This fish can reach a length of up to 45 centimetres and is found in the Indo- Pacific regions. It feeds mainly on algae,but will also take microorganisms,invertebrates,molluscs,sponges,sand dwelling worms,crustaceans,and smaller fish. The juvenile is bright yellow with black spots,which changes as the fish develops into an adult to blue plates with yellow stripes. Photographed in the Andaman Sea,Thailand | |
