Spotted soapfish (Pogonoperca punctata). This fish inhabits coral reefs and deep reef drop offs in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It can reach 35 centimetres in length. It is known for its ability to secrete a toxic skin mucus when it is threatened. This contains the chemical grammistin, which can be lethal to other fish. This is of particular importance in the aquarium trade,as the release of the chemical can kill the tank's inhabitants, including the soapfish itself.
