Harlequin ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) or ornate ghost pipefish. This is a rare fish found alone or in pairs around coral reefs. Its colouration and appearance helps it to mimic corals, camouflaging it from predators. The harlequin ghost pipefish, which inhabits the Indo- Pacific region, reaches lengths of 12 centimetres. It feeds on crustaceans that it sucks up with its tube-like mouth. Photographed in the Andaman Sea,Thailand | |
