Many-host goby (Pleurosicya mossambica) on a sea squirt. This small fish associates with a variety of invertebrate marine fauna, especially corals. The goby spends its whole life on its host, even laying its eggs on it. This goby has chosen to associate with a sea squirt or ascidian. These primitive chordate animals are sedentary as adults, attaching to a hard substrate such as reef or rock. Many are known for their bright colour. Photographed off Mabul Island,Malaysia | |
