Wolf fish. View of a wolf fish,Anarrhichas lupus. Wolf fish, also known as ocean catfish, are carnivores that feed on hard-shelled molluscs, crustaceans and starfish. They are found at depths of up to 100 metres from the coast of Greenland to southern New England,USA. The fish grow up to 90 cm in length but weigh less than 7 kg. The fierce nature of the wolf fish is feared by fisherman,as it is quite capable of biting off a human finger when caught. Despite its ferocious nature, wolf fish are reclusive by nature and will usually shy away when approached. Photographed in Nova Scotia,Canada | |
