Nudibranch,or true sea slug,(Chromodoris coi) feeding on a sponge. Its gills (white, lower left) and two rhinophores (orange, lower right) are seen. The rhinophores are used to sense chemicals in the water. Nudibranchs (meaning naked gills) are sea slugs without a shell or true gills. The bright colours of this sea slug warns predators that it is poisonous. This sea slug is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. Photographed in Mabul,Malaysia | |
