Fly and eggs in web. A green spider,Araniella cucurbitina (clerk spider) consumes a fly caught in its web. There are two round egg sacs at the edge of the web, within which fertilised eggs are laid. The spiderlings remain there until their first molt, after which they disperse. The spider eats by injecting poisons with its fangs that digest the body of the prey. The spider then sucks out the resulting 'soup',leaving the indigestible parts of the fly as a husk. This small spider is common throughout northern Europe living in bushes and trees | |
