Dung beetles use dung to feed their larvae. This dung beetle (subfamily Coprinae) moulds and shapes the dung (faeces) into a ball and rolls it to a suitable place. It will deposit its eggs in the dung ball and dig into the ground, burying it up to a metre deep. This provides a food source for the developing larvae when they hatch and also plays an important role in faecal decomposition | |
