Mating locusts (Family Pyrgomorphidae). Locusts are a type of grasshopper. Some species form huge swarms of millions of individuals when their population rises above a critical level. Such swarms destroy all vegetation in their path. During mating, the smaller male transfers a parcel of sperm called a spermatophore to the female. She then lays eggs in a hole in the ground.
