Lanternbugs (Fulgora sp.) on a tree trunk. The insect was named as it was thought that the long protuberance on its head glowed under certain conditions, but this fact is now disputed. Although this insect is a true bug (order Homoptera) it is also known as a lantern fly. Photographed at Poring Hot Springs,Sabah,Malaysia | |
