Light micrograph of the tiny freshwater crustacean,Cyclops sp. . This female carries two full egg sacs, clustering like pearls on either side of the abdomen. A colony of ciliate protozoans can be seen attached to the carapace. The "rowing legs" at the rear of the body are called biramous appendages & produce a jerky, hopping movement through the water.
