Christmas tree worms (Spirobranchus giganteus). These are polychaete worms that live in a tube attached to coral or rock. They feed by extending long radioles into the water to trap passing food particles. At the slightest hint of danger these are withdrawn rapidly into the tube. This worm is found in tropical regions throughout the world. At lower centre is a sea squirt (blue). Photographed off Sulawesi,Indonesia | |
