Lion's mane jellyfish. View of a lion's mane jellyfish,Cyanea capillata,floating in water. This jellyfish ranges from Arctic waters to the coasts of Florida,USA,and Mexico. Its tentacles can reach up to 30 metres in length and contain millions of nematocysts (stinging cells). Fish that become entangled in these tentacles become paralysed and are eaten by the jellyfish.
