Royal Astronomical Society gold medal. This is the reverse of the medal,which is decorated with the head of Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727). The gold medal is the highest award of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) and was first presented in 1824. Two medals are awarded every year.
