Parachute descent. Historical artwork of Professor Baldwin suspended beneath a descending parachute. Professor John E Baldwin was an American aeronaut who made daring parachute jumps from balloons at fairs and carnivals. He made a jump in 1888 from a balloon above Alexandra Palace in London,England. His final show was in August 1905 when he ascended beneath a balloon with seven dynamite bombs,intending to reconstruct a scene of aerial combat.
